Every morning we do Calendar time. At the beginning of the year I lead this activity, and now the students have taken on the role of being Calendar person in charge. Just a couple of pictures of brave volunteers:
After lunch we spend 10 minutes in quiet reading time. It is a nice calming time before we take on our afternoon work. Here are a few pictures:
We are celebrating the last day before Spring Break on Friday and having a fun afternoon of games and a movie. Still hoping for some parent volunteers to bring in some treats for us. If you are able, please e-mail me. It will be greatly appreciated!
Last week was a great week with the Grade 1’s. We finished off our Science Unit on Habitats (completing 4 habitats: Polar, Ocean, Desert and Forest) Lots of good learning and fun art projects. In Socials we completed our study of Community Helpers and learned how we too can be a community helper by obeying the law, picking up trash, and cleaning up after ourselves. We continue to work on Home Reading, and I encourage parents to continue to read throughout the Spring Break holiday. I will send some extra books home. In Math, we continue to work on our unit in Measurement and have begun to learn subtraction. So far, we can do -0, -1, -2, -3. We are going into our final week before Spring Break, and what a well-deserved holiday that will be for all of us. I pray that you will have a safe, relaxing time together as a family! And hopefully we will enjoy some nice weather!

We will be having class photos taken on Monday, March 7. Let’s hope for sunny weather to make a good backdrop for our photos.
We have been given the go- ahead to book field trips for after Spring Break! I have lots of plans that I am working through. I hope the last third of the year is full of fun! Stay tuned for details and lots of permission slips to fill out!
