We had a fun and exciting week.  With Christmas holidays only a couple weeks away, we have made a few Christmas crafts to decorate the classroom. (pictures forthcoming)  In Socials we started our study of Christmas around the world, developing an awareness of different language and culture, particularly as related to Christmas.  We will be learning how to say Merry Christmas in different languages.  Our first  country we looked at was Mexico.  “Feliz Navidad!”  Here are some of their Christmas traditions that we talked about: pinatas, poinsettias, los posasdas (parade), 3 King’s Cake, cactus Christmas trees.  Each day this week and next we will take a look at a different country.  Monday we will be looking at Christmas in Australia!
